Why choose a pear shaped diamond?

The pear cut combines the round brilliant and the marquise into a single teardrop. Its elongated shape looks larger for its carat weight and flatters the finger, and it is a favourite for engagement rings, pendants and drop earrings.

How to choose a pear lab-grown diamond

Symmetry. The two sides of the teardrop should mirror each other, with evenly rounded shoulders and a crisp point. Look for Excellent or Very Good symmetry.

Length-to-width ratio. Most people prefer a pear between about 1.45 and 1.75; lower ratios look fuller, higher ratios look slimmer and more elegant.

Colour and clarity. Colour can show slightly at the point, so many buyers choose D to G. VS1 and VS2 clarity are eye-clean.
