How to choose a 1 carat lab-grown diamond

Carat is weight, not size. One carat is 0.2 grams. Two diamonds of the same carat weight can look different in size depending on their shape and cut proportions.

Shape changes how big it looks. Elongated shapes such as oval, pear and marquise spread their weight across a longer outline, so they tend to look larger face-up than a round of the same carat weight.

Colour and clarity. D to F colour gives the whitest look; G and H look white once set and offer great value. VS1 and VS2 clarity are eye-clean.

Check the grading report. Most listings link to the stone's grading report, so you can confirm the carat weight, colour and clarity before you choose.
